The aftermarket bumper kit came with an area to install fog lights, but I wanted to upgrade to larger diameter lights. I decided to custom mold fiberglass light pods that would accept 8.5” diameter lights upgraded from the stock 6.25” lights. These pods would be removable when extra lighting is not needed and wire into the stock loom.
This build was cast directly on the bumper and I used modeling foam to build up the shape. Three layers of fiberglass build up the form and was finished with glazing resin and putty.
Test fitting the foam blanks.
Finish surfacing the pods before I lay down the fiberglass.
Laying down the fiberglass.
Trimmed the edges and getting ready to cut out the light holes.
Light holes cut and finish surfacing before primer.
Finished light pod ready for the lights!
Now for the hood. Started with a wood frame.
Roughed in the shape with foam.
Rough surfacing before I lay the fiberglass.
Fiberglass laid down over the mold.
A lot of sanding and here is the final product!
